Title: Help regarding quencing process and air cooling modeling in Abaqus
Post by: mahac4811 on July 08, 2021, 05:20:04 AM
Dear all
How do you simulate air cooling and water cooling(quenching) in Abaqus?
(i) How to set up loading/boundary conditions for air cooling and water cooling heat treatment model simulation?
(ii) How to apply loads or boundary conditions? Do we use interface conditions such as heat transfer coefficient(HTC) and surface film condition or predefined field?
Please help me to do this simulation in ABAQUS.

Hi, it is very slow here and pretty much just me for now.  ABAQUS by itself is not good for working on phase changes in materials, so I do not think that you will have anything meaningful from a heat transfer simulation if your goal is to model quenching.

That said, I have a basic video on heat transfer on youtube (that might have brought you here).

take care,
